Born, bred and educated in New Delhi and Pune in India, Priyanka Sinha is a Canadian citizen who currently lives in Kitchener, Ontario. She emigrated to Ontario, Canada along with her family to build and secure a brighter collective future in 2004. Priyanka is an Indian Classical vocal artist and improviser who began her music training at an impressionable age of seven from seasoned classical “gurus”. Her remarkable musical talent and abilities were noticed and nurtured by her supportive parents and well-wishers. She has won several awards and honours for her soul-stirring performances across the globe i.e. first in India, then in Britain and finally here in Canada. Shortly after her arrival here, Priyanka’s musical talent and abilities were discovered by a locally trained musician, composer and cellist, Nick Storring. The duo collaborated and co-created the live background music for supporting and enriching an acclaimed theatre production called the “Season of Immigration to the West”. This show featuring authentic immigrant stories and showcasing a wide range of mixed experiences of newcomers to Canada was a massive success and the actors and musicians were invited to tour nationally to perform in this interdisciplinary masterpiece at various cities in other provinces between 2005 and 2010.
